Here’s Your Testosterone Fix

Male silhouette - Here's Your Testosterone Fix

Testosterone levels have always started to dip as men age, but in the over-40 crowd, low-T levels are becoming a big problem. Luckily, there is a testosterone fix that doesn’t involve expensive—and potentially dangerous—testosterone replacement therapy.

It’s a scary truth, but low testosterone is becoming an epidemic for men in their 40s, and it gets even worse as you get into your 50s, 60s, or 70s. And I’m not talking about the normal and expected decrease in hormone production… Men’s T levels have been demolished in recent decades. This is because of ever-increasing stress levels, exposure to phytoestrogens, and other emasculating factors in modern life.

Testosterone Studies

Recent studies show the average male currently has 25% less testosterone than he would’ve in 1992 (comparing men of the same ages). And to make things even worse,  average estrogen levels in men have increased an astounding 40% in that same time frame.

Looking at those numbers, you can’t help but wonder if you’re affected, right? Chances are pretty high that if you’re over 40, you’ve got lower T levels than you should. Here are a few problems that would indicate low testosterone:

  • Increased belly fat
  • Newly developed “man boobs (excess chest fat)
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Varying degrees of erectile issues
  • Decreased sperm count
  • Decreased strength and power
  • Muscle loss
  • Lack of energy, feelings of lethargy
  • Problems sleeping
  • An overall feeling of decreased masculinity

Any of those symptoms alone or combined is bad enough, but even more alarming is the fact that low-testosterone can be deadly. A study published in the Endocrine Society of Toronto found that men with lower testosterone levels had a 33% increased risk of dying than men with higher T levels.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Testosterone replacement therapy can be extremely tempting, as it seems like the miracle testosterone fix. Well, it’s not…

Adding an unnatural source of a hormone like testosterone makes your body shut down its natural T production. That means your body starts to produce even less of the all-mighty male hormone while your estrogen levels increase because of the breakdown of the testosterone prescription. That increased estrogen can lead to gynecomastia (man boobs) the same way that steroids do in bodybuilders who abuse them.
